OVERVIEW

Chassis G16/005 was originally owned by Ian Tee and first raced with a BRM engine. Son of Motoring News proprietor Wesley Tee, Ian was an experienced racer, and partnered by Willie Green entered the car in the BOAC 500 at Brands Hatch. Unfortunately, it posted an early retirement.

The Ginetta was subsequently converted to BMW power and has been highly competitive in various series since including the Guards Trophy. It has proved to be capable of beating Chevron B8s and Lenhams in both endurance and sprint races, winning its last race outright at Silverstone.

Chassis 005 was subject to a full nut and bolt rebuild several years ago and has always been professionally maintained. It is fitted with a low mileage Lester Owen BMW engine and 5 speed Hewland FT200 gearbox rebuilt by JP. The car has lightweight nose and tail sections and is in genuinely excellent condition throughout.

Complete with an extensive history file, an FIA HTP which is valid until 2032, and at the asking price has a spares package which includes:

• Spare nose and tail section
• Engine warmer
• 1 set of spare wheels
• 15 gear ratios
• Running spares

In addition a set of body moulds is available by separate negotiation.

A very attractive and highly competitive sports racer at a realistic price.

The Ginetta G16 was a development of their very successful G12. It featured a modified chassis and body to accommodate both much wider wheels and larger capacity more powerful engines.

The suspension and brakes were also beefed up and a range of engines could be fitted including Cosworth FVA, BMW and Coventry Climax FPF.

The first cars were delivered in the late spring of 1968 but for the 1969 season the factory further developed the G16 to accept the more powerful 2 litre Tasman BRM V8 engine.
